FOC MEMORIAL DAY QSO PARTY --- > Sponsored and managed by the First Class CW
Operators' Club, the Memorial Day QSO Party is open to all licensed amateurs
and is intended to provide an opportunity for participants to pay tribute to
amateur radio operators who are now Silent Key. This CW-only event will
run from 09:00 UTC on 1 November to 08:59 UTC on 2 November. Certificates
will be available for all participants submitting an ADIF log. Complete
information can be found on https://www.g4foc.org/memorial-day-qso-party/.

PY0FF ---> The team on Fernando de Noronha will not use FT4, preferring "to
invest every precious minute to work new stations in SSB, CW and FT8".
However, in an effort "to support the classic RTTY community", they will
operate RTTY on 19 October after about 9 UTC. Look for PY0FF on +/- 21105
kHz, listening split up 2 kHz and more.

YASME FOUNDATION GRANT ---> The Board of Directors of the Yasme Foundation
has announced a grant to the Association of Tunisian Radio Amateurs (ATRA)
in support of the 2024 YOTA (Youth On The Air) Sub-regional Camp to be held
in Tunisia. [TNX K4ZW]

+ SILENT KEY + Henry "Doc" Van Kets, ON4IZ passed away on 29 September at
the age of 86. Born in 1938 and licensed since he was 16 years old, he was a
gynecologist at the University of Ghent Medical School. His studies and a
demanding professional life limited his involvement in the hobby, and it was
not until he retired in 1998 that he had more time for amateur radio. He was
still very active in SSB and particularly CW (FOC member #2069), and his
primary interests were HF DXing and IOTA chasing. He was on the DXCC Honor
Roll with 340/381 (current/total) credited Entities in the Mixed standings,
and on the IOTA Honour Roll with 1114 island groups confirmed. [TNX ON5NT]
